BANGALORE: THE YOUTH for Equality has displayed immense strength in trying to
put an end to the caste-based reservations in future. If the union government still plays the politics of reservation without developing India at the grassroots level the day is not far away when people will have to launch a non-cooperation movement against it.
Indian politicians cannot resist the figure of 52 per cent of population as the potential vote bank, who they are trying to benefit through the reservation policies. But, if 30 per cent out of the rest of 48 per cent of Indians, especially the youth, start a non-cooperation movement, the reservation based on caste can be eradicated from India.
The youth of India can launch the non-cooperation movement by not paying taxes, not shopping for clothes or jewels, not spending on entertainment-related activities, not travelling to tourist spots, not celebrating festivals, adopting simple marriage ceremonies and not working in any public or private company.
Until the government fulfills our demands of removing caste-based reservations, rolling back reservations and giving reservations only to the poor and the needy without compromising on merit every young person should make their parents, siblings, relatives, neighbours and others to participate in the movement. A small contribution from each supporter of merit sitting at home will definitely make Indian politicians think of rolling back reservations. Sometimes being simple speaks volumes.
We know that the Indian economy should grow with our wholehearted support, but if our hearts are broken the economy will definitely be put in danger.
